5 Organized Home Habits You Can Start Today

If you’re feeling like having an organized home isn’t something that you can do because you’re too busy, disorganized, and/or overwhelmed, you need to re-think how you’re approaching getting your home to an organized place. Just a couple simple home habits will get you started and off in the right direction. If you’re new to the Clean Mama Routine, there are 4 components that will help you keep your home clean with just minutes a day. The Daily Tasks are the perfect place to get started and these 5 organized home habits fall right in line with the Daily Tasks.

Here are five organized home habits you can start today!

1. Make Your Bed Every Morning

Starting your day by making your bed sets a positive tone and instantly makes your bedroom look tidier. It only takes a few minutes and gives you a sense of accomplishment right from the start.

Tip: Simplify the process by skipping the top sheet and minimizing the number of pillows and blankets you use.

2. Declutter as You Go

Instead of letting clutter accumulate, take a few moments throughout the day to put things back in their place. Whether it’s picking up toys, putting away dishes, or sorting through mail, dealing with clutter in real-time keeps it from becoming overwhelming.

Tip: Keep a small basket or bin in a strategic place for items that need to be put away later.

3. Create a Nightly Clean-Up Routine

Spend 10-15 minutes each night tidying up your home. Focus on high-traffic areas like the kitchen and living room. Wipe down counters, straighten pillows, and do a quick sweep of any messes.

Tip: Get the whole family involved by assigning each person a specific task.

4. Organize One Small Space Daily

Tackling one small area each day, such as a drawer, shelf, or countertop, can make a big difference over time. Set a timer for 10-15 minutes and focus on decluttering and organizing that space.

Tip: Use storage bins and labels to keep items neatly organized and easy to find.

5. Establish a Paper Management System

To prevent paper clutter, create a system for managing mail and important documents. Sort mail immediately, recycling what you don’t need and filing away bills and papers. Consider setting up a designated spot for bills and to-do items.

Tip: Keep it simple – you don’t need dozens of files to organize your bills and papers – in/out and in process and to file are easy filing categories to start with.

By incorporating these five home habits into your daily routine, you can create a more organized and serene home environment. Start today and enjoy the benefits of a clutter-free space!
