CalFresh F&V EBT Pilot Program - Updated 7/11/25

The CalFresh Fruit & Vegetable EBT Pilot Project has been extended with additional funding!

The timeline on when the program will restart has not been determined.

Frequently Asked Questions:

When will the program restart?

  • At this moment, we don’t have information on when the program will restart. The California Department of Social Services has not announced the official start date for this program.

Does this mean I can start earning incentive dollars again?

  • Not yet, the program is still paused. If you buy fresh fruits and vegetables today with your EBT card, you will not receive any incentives.

Why is it taking so long? Why can’t you just turn the program back on?

  • Mother’s Nutritional Center does not control when the program turns on/off. The State of California manages the program timeline, and we are waiting to hear from them about when they are restarting the program.

Why does the program keep stopping and starting?

  • The program is funded from the California State Budget, which is allocated every year. Due to the program's popularity, the money for the program keeps running out. Although new funds have been approved for the coming year, there is a delay between when the budget is signed and when a state agency is able to begin distributing the money (in this case, via incentives rebated to an EBT card).
