FAQs Regarding Funds Running Out
What is Happening?
The money to run the CalFresh Fruit and Vegetable EBT Pilot Project, which comes from the California state budget, is running out, and the Pilot Project will be suspended when the money is spent down.
What does that mean?
If you buy fresh fruits and vegetables at Mother’s Nutritional Center stores with your CalFresh benefits you won’t be able to earn nutrition incentives on that purchase after the Pilot Project funds are spent down. However, you can still use your CalFresh benefits like you did before the Pilot Project started.
Will the Pilot Project restart?
The Pilot Project could restart sometime in the future if the California legislature and Governor provide more funding in the state budget. We will provide updated information as it becomes available at www.masfrescoplusebt.org
What happens to the nutrition incentive dollars that I earn?
Any CalFresh Fruit and Vegetable EBT Pilot Project nutrition incentive dollars that you earn will stay in your CalFresh account until you spend them.
Do the nutrition incentive dollars get taken back?
No, any CalFresh Fruit and Vegetable EBT Pilot Project nutrition incentive dollars that you earn will stay in your CalFresh account until you spend them.
